Terms of service
Last updated 25 Oct 2026
These terms are the rules for using Flare, in plain words: what we do, what clubs and players do, how plans are paid for and how to get your money back. By using Flare you agree to them.
Who we are
Flare (flareground.com) is a games site for clubs: score predictors, last man standing, cups, sweepstakes and more. It is run by Flareground in the United Kingdom. "We" and "us" on this page mean Flareground.
A club's Club Admin sets the club up on Flare, chooses its plan and runs its games. Players join the club with its share code or an invite, and play once the Club Admin lets them in.
How we look after your details is in our privacy policy.
Entry fees and prizes
- Flare never holds stakes or pays prizes. Entry fees and prizes are between players and their club, and are paid outside Flare.
- Prizes shown on Flare are information only: what the club says it will pay. The club decides them and pays them, not us.
- Flare helps the club keep track of who has paid, but the club's own records of what it received and paid out are up to the club.
- Each club is responsible for running its games lawfully, including the rules on gambling, lotteries and sweepstakes, and for deciding who may take part.
- If you disagree with your club about an entry fee or a prize, please sort it out with your Club Admin. We can't decide it or pay it for them.
Your account and your players
- Give your real name and an email address you use, and keep your password and sign-in codes to yourself.
- One account can play for up to 5 people in a club, you included: for example members of your family. Only add people you are responsible for, or who have agreed. You play for them, so you are responsible for them on Flare, including their entry fees.
- You can delete your account at any time from your Me page. A Club Admin hands their club to someone else first.
Clubs and Club Admins
- A club's Club Admins act for the club. Club Admins must use a sign-in app or passkey as well as their password.
- Club Admins are responsible for the details they type in: game names and rules, entry fees, prizes, how players pay the club, and the club's contacts. Please keep them right.
- The club is responsible for its members' behaviour on Flare. Club Admins decide who joins, and can remove members.
Using Flare fairly
Please don't:
- abuse, bully or threaten anyone, in messages, names or anywhere else
- use an alias, avatar or game name that is rude, hurtful or otherwise unsuitable, or that pretends to be someone else
- use someone else's account, or play for someone without their agreement
- try to get into parts of Flare you aren't allowed into, or to slow down or break the site
- use Flare for anything unlawful
A Club Admin can remove an avatar they find unsuitable, and can remove a member from their club.
If a club or an account breaks these terms, we may suspend or close it.
Plans and paying
Each club chooses a plan. The plans and their prices are shown on Choose a plan and on the club's Plan tab. Prices are in pounds, and no VAT is added at present.
- Try it free: one cup, sweepstake or First Goal, once per club, for up to 30 players, in Flare colours. It has help pages but no support tickets, and needs no card. There is one free club per account: a second club needs a paid plan.
- Single competition and A bigger game: one-off payments for one game, for up to 100 sign-ups.
- 3 months and 12 months: subscriptions for every game type, for up to 100 sign-ups. They renew automatically until you cancel, and we email the club's Club Admins 7 days before each renewal.
- Extra player packs let 100 more people sign up each. A sign-up is one account, which can play for up to 5 people. On a subscription, a pack added later is paid at once for the time left, then renews with the plan.
- While founding places last, a founding club pays the lower founding price for 12 months for as long as it stays subscribed. A club can have the founding price only once: if it cancels or is refunded, it doesn't get it back.
You pay on Stripe's secure page, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Flare never sees or keeps your card details. A plan starts when Stripe tells us the payment worked.
Changing, cancelling and lapsing
- From 3 months to 12 months: the change happens at once and a new year starts that day. The card on file pays now, less credit for the unused part of the 3 months.
- From 12 months to 3 months: the change happens when the year ends, and you can undo it until then.
- To cancel, a Club Admin opens Manage card and invoices on the Plan tab, which takes you to Stripe's page. The plan carries on to the end of the time already paid for, then ends. There is no money back for that time, except under the money-back promise below.
- If a renewal payment fails, Stripe tries again and emails the Club Admin.
- When a plan ends, or a payment fails for good, the club has 14 days' grace. After that it is read-only: players can still see tables and history, and games already running carry on, but no new games can start. To carry on, a Club Admin chooses a plan again.
- A Club Admin can close the club on the Plan tab: any plan is cancelled that day, with no money back except under the money-back promise below, and the club is read-only straight away.
- A Single competition or A bigger game ends when its game finishes, unless another game is still running: the club is then read-only. So is a club on Try it free that goes 6 months unused, with no game running or played and no member signing in.
- A read-only club, and everything in it, is deleted 3 months after it became read-only, unless a Club Admin chooses a plan before then. Its Club Admins are emailed a month and 14 days before.
Our 14-day money-back promise
Not happy with your club's first 3 or 12 month plan? Tell us within 14 days of paying and we refund you in full.
- A plan that started before 26 October 2026 keeps the 30 days it was promised.
- It covers a club's first 3 or 12 month plan only. Try it free, Single competition and A bigger game are not covered by the promise: the free plan is the way to try Flare first.
- It can be used once per club, once per Club Admin and once per card, so it isn't open to a club, Club Admin or card that has had it before.
- A Club Admin asks for it through Support, with Tell us what went wrong on the Plan tab. We check the rules above, then refund every payment for that plan to the card that paid.
- A refund ends the plan straight away, with no 14 days' grace: the club becomes read-only and games in progress are paused, with no new predictions, picks or sign-ups. Players are told.
- A founding club that is refunded doesn't get its founding place or price back.
The promise doesn't take away any rights you have under the law.
The service
- We provide Flare as it is. We work hard to keep it running and correct, but we can't promise it will always be available, or free of mistakes.
- We may improve Flare, and add, change or remove features and game types.
- Match results are typed in by the Flare team or come from a results service. If one is wrong, we put it right.
What we are responsible for
- We aren't responsible for entry fees, prizes, or how a club runs its games, or for disagreements between players and their club.
- We aren't responsible for losses we couldn't have expected, or for a prediction or pick missed while the site was down.
- If we are responsible for a loss, the most we will pay is what the club paid us in the 12 months before it happened.
- Nothing in these terms limits what the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as our responsibility for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update them here and change the date at the top. If you carry on using Flare after that, the new terms apply.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can settle any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also use your own courts.
Questions
